Our club typically meets weekly for lunch and to listen to an interesting speaker from our community.
We ask our members to engage in our programs and contribute to our Head Start Christmas and Toys for Tots programs.

On May 2nd the Somerville Kiwanis Club luncheon speaker was our own Honorary member, Rabbi William Hamilton. Rabbi Hamilton thanked the members for supporting the Congregation Kehillath Israel recent Gala as well as discussing some of the current issues. The members of Kehillath Israel are huge supporters of the Somerville Kiwanis Lucky K drawing, which provides funds for our annual scholarship program. President Dawn Austin reminded the members that our next big event will be on June 2md at the East Somervile Carnival where members will fit and distribute hundreds of bicycle helmets to young riders. Come by our both to learn about the Kiwanis Club of Somerville or to support our work in the community. Following today's meeting, the Somerville Kiwanis Scholarship Foundation held it's annual meeting. Again this year, the foundation will provide twelve $1,000 scholarships to deserving Somerville High School seniors. This year, seventy-five seniors competed for the scholarship awards. ... The Somerville Kiwanis Club Luncheon meeting today was a very special event. Three new members were inducted into the club by Past President/Distinguished Secretary Bob Nissenbaum. Thomas Ferte, Stephanie Deering and Christopher Vining formerly became members today after acknowledging their commitment to the goals and objectives of Kiwanis. Thomas Ferte, who recently opened a French Bakery at 164 Broadway, was today's luncheon speaker.
