The Somerville Kiwanis Club Luncheon meeting today was a very special event. Three new members were inducted into the club by Past President/Distinguished Secretary Bob Nissenbaum. Thomas Ferte, Stephanie Deering and Christopher Vining formerly became members today after acknowledging their commitment to the goals and objectives of Kiwanis. Thomas Ferte, who recently opened a French Bakery at 164 Broadway, was today's luncheon speaker.

On Thursday, April 11th, we had another well-attended meeting. Renee Scott, the co-founder of Green and Open Spaces in Somerville was the guest speaker. Green and Open Spaces increase green spaces while focusing on ecological restoration and climate change resiliency. One of the many ways they increase green space is by de-paving. Members at the meeting learned all about how they de-pave in Somerville.
Also at today's meeting, Past President - distinguished Secretary Bob Nissenbaum, won the Aces Gone Wild fundraiser earning a chance to draw the Ace of Spades and win half of the ever-growing pot of cash. PP Bob, in a generous gesture, allowed our server, Jan, to have the chance to win. Jan did in fact pull the Ace of Spades and was the winner of the cash. ... See MoreSee Less
